We read the Valencian register of estate agents every day. Here is what it says about the province of Alicante: how many there are, where they cluster, and why the number matters to a buyer.
Most articles about choosing an estate agent are written from nowhere in particular. This one is written from a daily reading of the official register. On 1 September 2026 we surveyed every municipality of the province of Alicante in the Registro de Agentes de Intermediación Inmobiliaria de la Comunitat Valenciana. Here is what it contains.
The headline numbers
Across the province, 87 municipalities have at least one registered estate agent, and those municipalities hold 1,237 registered companies between them. Alongside the companies, the register also lists individual agents registered in their own name, which we do not publish for privacy reasons.
The concentration is extreme. The ten busiest municipalities hold 841 of those 1,237 companies, about two thirds of the province, and the two largest markets, Torrevieja and Alicante city, hold more between them than the next four combined.
Where the agencies are
The ten municipalities with the most registered agency companies, measured on 1 September 2026:
- Torrevieja: 174 companies, 412 registered agents in total
- Alicante city: 169 companies, 418 agents
- Orihuela, including Orihuela Costa: 113 companies, 272 agents
- Dénia: 66 companies · Elche: 66 companies
- Jávea: 62 companies · Benidorm: 55 companies
- Calpe: 51 companies · Teulada-Moraira: 47 companies
- Altea: 38 · L'Alfàs del Pi and Albir: 36 · Santa Pola: 27
Why the density matters to you
A market with 137 registered agencies in one town is not a market where you take the first agency you walk past. It means three things in practice. Choice is real: if an agency is slow to answer, there are a hundred others in the same town. Specialisation is real: with that many firms, some genuinely do only new builds, or only one urbanisation, or only Scandinavian clients. And so is churn: agencies open and close, which is why we re-read the register every day rather than once.
What the register does not tell you
It is a register of who is entitled to act, not a ranking. It contains no measure of service, no reviews, no sales volumes and no prices. It will not tell you that an agency has one part-time employee, or that it has not answered an email since June. What it does is remove the bottom of the market from your shortlist before you spend any time on it.
How we use it
HolaBlanca publishes every registered company in the municipalities it covers, with its registry number, its registered address and the date the entry was last confirmed. As of today that is 1,238 companies across the 75 municipalities of Alicante province that hold at least one registered company: the complete company list of every one of them. We do not choose which agencies to include based on whether they pay us: the directory is the register, and paying only ever adds information to a listing, never removes a competitor from it.
